Yes, it’s true! The latest version of Web Traffic Genius is now much easier to install. You can install directly from your WordPress dashboard, just like any other zip file plug-in. You will have to do some additional tinkering by hand at your host, such as creating a couple of folders and changing permissions on files and folders, but this will take a very short amount of time. Detailed Videos and their transcripts are available to you on the members site after you purchase. The videos are great, but they get overly long in my opinion, and since I have multiple sites, I wanted a short and sweet version to check off the steps as I do them. So what I’ve done below is to construct a simple set of directions to make it easier and faster to get started.

EASY INSTALLATION OR UPGRADE

(Note – if you already have an older version of WTG installed, before you begin to update, you should export your aggegators and extra feeds so you can import them later into the new version and not have to start filling in that information from scratch. You do that from the WTG panel in WordPress. Then deactivate the old version and delete it before installing version 3.5.1 and higher. You will now be able to install the plug-in directly from the WP dashboard — like you do for any other plug-in. From here on in you will be able to Auto Upgrade from your WP dashboard, and the only hands-on work you will need to do for further upgrades will be to again change permissions on 2 files and 1 folder.) There is NO LONGER any ftp of files involved.

Wait! Have you exported your aggregators and extra feeds? Yes? Okay, let’s begin:
1. Install and activate the plugin’s zip file via the WordPress Dashboard

2. After activation the Web Traffic Genius menu appears on the left of the Dashboard

3. Choose “Options” and register the application by inserting your Clickbank order ID#, which they email you after the purchase is made. You only need to do this once– all future updates for this site will pick up this information

4. Pay attention to any Web Traffic Genius notification boxes of things you must do or of new versions available.

5. Create a feeds folder and a backup folder. Then assign their permissions in C-Panel:

a. Log in to your site via c-Panel and go to File Manager
b. Go into your root folder. Normally, it will be under public_html [or if it's an add-on domain, it will be under public_html/myaddondomainname].
c. Now create a folder that will contain the RSS feeds that Web Traffic Genius will use to submit feeds. Click on New Folder and create a folder name [it doesn’t matter what you call it – call it “myrssfeeds” if you like.
d. Change the permissions on your feeds folder so that Web Traffic Genius can write to the folder: select the new folder, then click on “Change Permissions”. Set the permissions at 777. This allows read/write/execute permissions, which Web Traffic Genius will need to write to the file.
e. Now create the backup folder and assign it the name wtg-backup — this time the name is important because WTG defaults to “wtg-backup”. Change its permissions to 777.

This is where Web Traffic Genius will make a backup copy of your files when a new version is available and you select Autoupgrade from the Web Traffic Genius menu in the WordPress dashboard.

6. Now go into the wp-content/plugins/web-traffic-genius-pro folder. Change the permissions on 2 files — config.php and cookiejar.dat — to 766. You can do both files at once by checking their boxes, then set the permissions, so this becomes a one-step process.

7. Change the permissions on the captcha sub-folder to 777

Notes:

  • After each Auto Upgrade, permissions will need to be reset on the folders and files mentioned above in #6 and #7.

October 26, 2010 – Web Traffic Genius upgrade has been released. Here is a partial list of its upgrade capabilities.
    —————————–

    1. The number of RSS Aggregators has been increased to 50+ aggregators.

    2. Aggregators have been sorted into three types.

    * Ones that do not require a username/password or captcha code.
    * Ones that require a username/password but not a captcha code.
    * Ones that require a captcha and possibly a username/password as
    well.

    3. Captcha Code Support – Now supports three optional CAPTCHA
services. The captcha service is optional and you may choose whether to use it or not.

    4. Better automation support — Web Traffic Genius will do it’s processing in the “background” so there is no delay after publishing a post.

    5. Keywords in RSS feed names. The RSS feed that is created for each post now uses the title of the post in the filename for better SEO/ranking purposes.

    6. There is a pause button in the Options screen. If paused, Web
Traffic Genius will do no processing for posts made on the blog.
This is to cover situations with automated tools where you do not
want it to process hundreds or thousands of posts
    at once.

    7. A list of RSS Feed URL’s is now available for copying/pasting
    into other applications.

    8. Import/Export has been improved to automatically backup/restore
extra feeds and captcha service information as well.

    9. Spinning capability has been added for extra feeds titles and
    descriptions.

    10. RSS Feed summary or detailed option in the options screen has
been added to include a summary instead of the whole post, etc.

    11. Web Traffic Genius now supports processing for WordPress pages
    as well as posts.

    Web Traffic Genius Review

    August 16, 2010

If you’re looking for a product that will help you increase targeted traffic, bring you quality backlinks, and improve page rank — and do it all on autopilot — invest a little time well spent in reading some facts on Web Traffic Genius.

When you purchase this rss aggregator (Web Traffic Genius) software, you will get two versions — one is a WordPress plug-in and the other is a stand-alone version ready for use with a non-blog type website. We’ll be concentrating here on the plug-in version.

Installation is very straightforward and there are videos to walk you through everything, as well as transcripts of all the videos as PDF documents,  if that is what you prefer. Although Tim Buchalka shows you all the steps to install the plug-in manually, you can really just install it simply from your WordPress dashboard like any other plug-in. It takes very little time to install. Once installed, you will see Web Traffic Genius Pro listed with its options at the left side of  your dashboard. As Tim walks you through the process with screen shots, you can pause and restart the video, going at your own pace as you complete the installation.

In another video, Tim walks you through setting up your options for the most effective results. Some of the rss feed sites require a log-in, so you will set up your username and password for those sites. The good news? The settings you make need only be done once, because they have cleverly arranged for you to be able to import and export your settings and you will be able to use them on any or all of your sites. Because their are 2 versions – the stand-alone and the WP Plug-in, you are not limited in the construction of your site. There is a forum in case you need to ask some questions, and users have found that the support is quite good and quick in response time.

If you have a brand new site, with no posts yet, from the very beginning Web Traffic Genius will start creating backlinks for you. But if you have only just found out about this software, and installed it on an existing blog which already has posts, not to worry. There is an option to “post existing posts” to the rss aggregator. It will generate a list of all your existing posts and you can schedule how many posts should be made daily. Don’t worry – you will have full control over the posting schedule, and Web Traffic Genius will not send out another feed every time you edit/update posts, as that would be considered spamming.

Remember that future updates are FREE as new features are being added and the list of rss feeds is growing as well. You may go directly to the product site by clicking on the product image on this page.

Some people need more information or have questions about  Web Traffic Genius, many of which have been answered at the web traffic & marketing forum of Tim & Anthony Buchalka [the originators of the software] or at the Warrior Forum. We  provide the answers they have given in this review, along with some of our own answers.

    Q. Can Web Traffic Genius be deactivated/paused temporarily, without losing the settings (using the WordPress version)?

Tim: The new version has a button to do this for you.

    Q. What about Captcha? Many RSS directories require this now, and on autopilot, errors will accumulate.

Tim: Regarding Captcha, no support is included for that in the current version other than for feedagg which has a primitive captcha that is easy to solve. However we have the pre-alpha new version working well with captcha’s and have found a really cheap captcha solving service that we are finishing up testing for.

Also we are attempting to build in the capability for you to enter captcha’s manually upon each submission so you do not need to use captcha services at additional costs.

Admin note: All new version updates are FREE of charge when they become available.

    Q. The original version had about 20 rss aggregators. Are there more in the new version?

Tim: The new version is … working with 30+ rss aggregators (non captcha) and we aim to support all the major ones with captcha’s as well.

    Q. What if one has blogs as well as sites? Can Web Traffic Genius handle either of these? How does the WordPress plug-in work? Is it a plug-in?

The WordPress version is a plug-in. There are a few extra steps to take like configuring a folder for created feeds, setting up usernames/passwords for rss aggregator sites, setting permissions on a few files, etc. The WordPress plug-in is fully automated, kicking in any time you post.

For the standalone  software, same as above but also the general parts of uploading a zip file, extracting, etc. The standalone version has an rss feed creator and the ability to submit, but does not have the post automatically features the wordpress version does.

Admin Note: You get BOTH modules when you buy Web Traffic Genius.

    Q. Will it work with Joomla?

Tim: … yes it will work with Joomla, but not quite as automated. We do have joomla users who have had great results with the software.

Why Web Traffic Genius? You’re here because you need a strategy to market your product or service by driving targeted traffic to your site. You know you need to take action that will swiftly accomplish your goals. Okay – that means backlinks and backlinks mean spending precious hours of your time to create those backlinks. While in the meantime, that traffic is going somewhere else. Or you may be willing to pay someone else to do it for you. There is another option – to have software specifically designed to accomplish your goals on autopilot.

Let’s talk about the value of targeted traffic. Web Traffic Genius creates  backlinks that are specifically built around your particular niche. Google uses these backlinks to help determine the importance of your pages and thus your page rank. Google then assigns a page rank of 0 – 10 based on not only the quantity, but the quality of those backlinks. Don’t forget that Google is always considering the importance of the pages those backlinks come from. So if they come from pages with low page rank, you will hinder rather than help your own efforts. This is where Web Traffic Genius shines. Web Traffic Genius software has been built to get you those high quality backlinks you need – and on autopilot! You can immediately see the difference in your page ranking and traffic. If you have only one site, this will bring it to the max. But what if you have 1/2 dozen sites, or even more? Use Web Traffic Genius across all of them to help you increase your conversion rates across the board, because when you purchase it, you may use it on an unlimited number of sites. It is continually being upgraded and all upgrades are free.

An additional component at no extra cost is the RSS Feed Creator, which feeds automatically for any website, even if your website is not using RSS technology. This powerful script can create feeds for a single standard web page, or hundreds of pages automatically. It has full spidering capability. But you remain in control because you can select or deselect individual pages if you don’t want an RSS feed for particular pages (e.g. avoid creating feeds for terms and conditions page, disclaimers, etc).

Web Traffic Genius has added another bonus component which is called The Search Position Detective. This allows you to see what page and position on Google your keywords are listed on. It also provides a history of your keyword’s listing position, so you will have a record of how each of your keywords are performing (whether they are getting closer to page one or further away).

They have recently added another bonus: a Free copy of their special SEO optimized WordPress blog software and includes a number of great WordPress Themes they have tested, bundled with plug-ins to achieve great SEO results. The plugins have been configured for optimum use. Many of these bonuses have recently been added, and when you buy, you will get any future bonuses offered.
